Andrés Higueros and (ro)drigo méndez sosa Design the ORMA Chair

Andrés Higueros and (ro)drigo méndez sosa worked in collaboration to create the ORMA chair, which was created for Design Week Mexico this year. The silhouette alters a familiar typeface character into a practical seating solution in a sculptural way. It is inspired by the lowercase 'a' specifically from the AH Forma typeface and delivers this creatively.

The ORMA unveils how the proportions of a typeface can be much more than a text. It is versatile beyond words as the letter is transformed into a functional three-dimensional piece of furniture. The chair uses the rounded section of the letter as the seat. It can be experienced in two ways depending on how the chair is positioned. One form has a rounded seat for comfort and the other as a handrest.
