If you were worried that contemporary design was getting a bit too predictable, then take a gander at the Orbital Floor Lamp. It's funky, isn't it? Ferruccio Laviani designed this idiosyncratic lighting object for Foscarini. It's guaranteed to infuse any room with quite a bit of life.
The structure of the piece comprises a steel stem with a sharp and pointed tripod base. This component might look a bit severe on its own, but playful personality was added upstairs. Five little metal offshoots support light fixtures and rather unusual lampshades. These are made from flat plates of glass that have either been treated to a frosted white finish or an extremely colorful one. On a single Orbital Floor Lamp, you'd be easily drawn to the brilliant cluster of abstract shapes in red, green, blue and yellow.
