'Open Homes' is a new project from Airbnb's in-house humanitarian team that aims to connect refugees and evacuees displaced by natural disasters with short-term rental homes.
With Open Homes, existing users on Airbnb are able to offer their listed rooms for free to people who are displaced. Through relief and non-profit organizations such as the International Rescue Committee, those in need of temporary shelters are able to make the most of this new program on Airbnb. Airbnb has now partnered with organizations across North America, France, Greece, Germany and other countries to make this solution available across multiple regions.
As it stands, more than 6,000 hosts on Airbnb are already making space for people in need with Open Homes.
