Surfboard-Inspired Seating

The Olo Stool by Trust in Design Boasts a Subtle Cantilevered Look

It is only natural that a seat designed for a surf shop would be inspired by surfboards; in this case, the Olo Stool "endorses the codes of fabrication for the first surfboards ever made," as pointed out by Design Milk. With a subtle cantilevered look, the seat has been separated into two parts that are attached to a central metal lath, which extends downward to form the Olo Stool's legs and footrest.

Commissioned by Cuisse de Grenouille and designed by France-based designer Joran Briand of Trust in Design, the Olo Stool is made out of lacquered metal and ash wood. Although an overall minimalist design, the Olo Stool has a great silhouette, not to mention the detail of the "intricate cross-construction of the metal legs fitted inside the stool’s wooden surface."
