Fake Fruit Mash-Up Ads

The Ogilvy Brasil Philips Blender Ad Tricks People with Fake New Fruit

An ingeniously funny ad campaign by Ogilvy Brasil to advertise Philips' new Walita Avance blender creatively lures people in with the fake fruit mash-up creations.

Gastronomic chef specialist Clecia Ribeiro creatively put together several crossbreeds of fruits to create fake new fruits. She mixed fruit juices, smartly punctured the skins of the food, filled vacuum-sealed bags with the juices and the fruit and vacuumed out the air. The fruit in the bag then soaked up the juice and took on its colors and flavors to create a fake new fruit like the Kiwigerine (an orange kiwi), Pinegrape (a purple pineapple) and the Bananaberry (red banana).

While the new fruits aren't really a truly grown species, they do sound and taste remarkably like the fruit mash-up they are, which confused many of the shoppers in the Sao Paulo market featured in the ad campaign. This Ogilvy Brasil is hilariously funny and a great way to promote making new blended fruit concoctions.
