Elongated Oceanside Abodes

Mackay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects' Project is Weather-Appropriate

Mackay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects designed an oceanside abode that boasts two elongated 32-foot volumes that extend themselves toward the water. Located in the village of Port Mouton, Nova Scotia, this structure provides a modern twist to the coastline. Mackay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects was careful with its choice of materials since the regional weather can understandably shift quickly. Thus, the oceanside abode was constructed with concrete and steel for stability. The house is also cladded with wood, in order for the structure to better integrate itself into the narrative of the surrounding landscape.

Mackay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects optimized the views and the exposure to natural light through sizable windows that create a warm interior for the abode. Largely contemporary in design and fortunate in location, this house by the water is the perfect retreat or site for retirement.
