Forward-Thinking Architecture firm is thinking of new ways to build sustainable buildings and structures, focusing on the best methods for improving human life overall with OAXIS. The team recently turned to the Arabian desert for its latest project, with the goal of making the area more sustainable without having to rely on outside sources for certain items.
The desert is an area that is rich in resources, but has very little rainfall and thus it's difficult to grow food here. According to DesignBoom, "people, nature, design and technology are combined in order to serve a specific function: to produce fresh and quality local crops with water saving technologies." This is the main goal of the project by Forward-Thinking Architecture, which in turn will hopefully improve the lives of people in the area. Photo Credits: designboom, forwardthinkingarchitecture
Human-Focused Architecture
OAXIS is a Project that Solves Sustainability Issues in the Desert
Trend Themes
1. Sustainable Building - Implementing water-saving technologies to produce fresh and quality local crops in resource-rich, water-scarce areas like the desert.
2. Human-centric Design - Combining people, nature, design, and technology to create structures that improve human life and well-being in challenging environments.
3. Self-sustainability - Developing innovative methods and techniques to reduce reliance on external sources and create self-sustaining systems.
Industry Implications
1. Architecture - Creating sustainable and human-focused structures by integrating advanced technologies and design principles.
2. Agriculture - Exploring water-saving technologies and techniques to grow fresh and quality crops in arid and resource-scarce environments.
3. Renewable Energy - Leveraging renewable energy sources to power self-sustaining systems and reduce reliance on external sources in resource-challenged areas.
