Woodturning studio Ash & Plumb creates the Novus collection for London's Collect craft fair using an oak tree that has been hit with lightning. The capsule is comprised of seven small objects and seven larger-scale options. Some of these are drastically contrasting measuring up to 80 cm in height and 50 cm in diameter. All of these are made from the large oak tree that was taken down during a storm in East Sussex.
Co-founder of Ash & Plumb, Dru Plumb speaks about the design and its process, stating"Most of our wood either comes from Sussex or Kent. With this one, we found a single lightning-struck oak tree that had a lot of beautiful cracks running through it all. We want it to feel like each piece has a history to it. Even though it's contemporary and recently created, it's got an old soul."
