Google's NotebookLM is an experimental, US-only artificial intelligence notebook that was created to make connections faster. NotebookLM—with "LM" meaning "language model"—has the potential to tackle the problem of information overload by using AI to organize ideas and help people deepen their understanding of them.
"A key difference between NotebookLM and traditional AI chatbots is that NotebookLM lets you ‘ground’ the language model in your notes and sources," explained Google Labs product manager Raiza Martin and editorial director Steven Johnson in a blog post. This means that the AI-first notebook prioritizes content fed by the user, rather than what the algorithm has been trained with.
After being teased at Google I/O under the codename Project Tailwild, NotebookLM has now opened its waitlist to a small number of US users.
