North Star Apartments is a residential complex in Senec, a popular Slovakian summer resort that has been built by local Slovakian architectural studio Nice Architects. The building's name was inspired by its location: North South. The four story dwelling was created with vibrance and design in mind that aims to introduce a duality between the outside and the inside spaces.
The apartment complex is built on a triangular site, where the ground level features cafes and small shops. There are nine 50 square meter apartment units on each floor, all offering expansive views of the city from the balcony.
The protruding form of the exterior allows the apartment units to have an element of privacy from the street below. The exterior structure also proves as a never ending shift between light and shade due to the protruding terraces.
