The Nicholas K Fall 2014 collection was one of the first shows to kick off Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week in New York City, showing off a chic collection of garments for men and women. Considering that it’s anticipated that the forecast for this year’s NYFW will bring snow, rain and more snow, attendees of the Nicholas K show were probably a little jealous of the cozy ensembles on the models.
The collection takes inspiration from book and movie titles like ‘Men at Sea’ and ‘Deadliest Catch.’ It’s always a little chillier by the water and it’s no secret that fishermen know how to stay warm. Some of the nautical influences can be seen in the knits, rope detailing and the practical Honeywell boots. Although there are a few midriff-baring styles in the Fall 2014 collection, there are plenty of knits, jackets and wraps to cover them up with. While the trousers for both men and women are more form-fitting, tops are draped in a much more loose, relaxed manner.
