Some of New York City's taxis will begin to use 'Arro,' a convenient, Uber-like app to allow for easier service across the city. Unlike Uber however, the app will be connected to the existing network of taxis.
The app syncs with both your phone and the screens of about half of the yellow and green taxis in New York, allowing users to hail nearby cabs with a few taps on their smartphone. Drivers will have access to your name and location, which will appear on their built-in screens.
Once at your destination, you pay with the app, which saves the hassle of counting cash or getting your credit card. Although currently just testing, if the app goes well in New York, expect to see the system used in other major American cities.
