Starbucks Japan's Latest New Green Tea Drink is the Green Chai Tea Latte

Starbucks Japan is celebrating the latest green tea harvest with another New Green Tea release.

Each year, green tea is harvested in Japan between March and mid-May. To mark the occasion, Starbucks Japan has been releasing New Green Tea drinks alongside each harvest – the first of which was the Matcha & Crushed Pistachio Milk Tea Latte in April, followed by the 'New Matcha' drinks a month later. Now, the brand is releasing its final installment in the New Green Tea series: the Green Chai Tea Latte. This brightly hued drink is described as "an unprecedented chai" that uses green tea (instead of the usual black tea) as its base. The drink also includes sencha and green apple, which give it its striking green hue, while yuzu and sudachi are added for aroma and freshness. Finally, cardamom, ginger, green pepper, and sansho pepper (known as Japanese pepper) give the drink a spicy kick.

The new Green Chai Tea Latte will make its debut on May 22.
