As part of the Nest Power Project, the brand will be providing one million thermostats to low-income homes. The Power Project is the latest initiative from the company and is meant to showcase the burden that utilities, like energy, can place on low and moderate-income homes. To accomplish this, Nest has cultivated an impressive network of partners, that includes well-known nonprofits, utility programs, governments and housing finance agencies. The Nest Power Project will not only provide technology to households but will also feature articles, stories and a short documentary all on the subject of utility burdens on low-income households.
The initiative involving the brand's Thermostat E units will be completed in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, which will receive 4,000 thermostat units. The units will be integrated into the homes being built and upgraded by Habitat for Humanity in 2018. Nest will further its involvement in this initiative by donating ten percent of the proceeds from sales of all its thermostats to Habitat for Humanity.
