Shanghai-based Vermilion Zhou Design Group developed a nature-inspired co-working space that references the beautiful outdoors. The design firm used the influence of a "farm land" theme and the concept of nutrients like sunlight, air and water to help create the interior of the space. The color palette of the office is reminiscent of a park with green and oak colors mixed in with black, white and gray. Natural light is an extremely important design element with the use of mirrors and frosted glass. Plants and trees appear throughout the office and there are even rooms called 'Oxygen Cells.'
The serene nature-inspired environment designed by Vermilion Zhou, named 'Fountown,' speaks to the concept of creating green spaces in urban settings. Highly populated cities like Shanghai are generally concrete jungles filled with population; bringing nature into an indoor space brings comfort and calm to the people within it who are normally treated to hectic outdoor environments.
