In designing the new packaging for organic cosmetics company Naturaglace, Nendo, the Japanese design studio headed by Oki Sato, opted for a soft, watery palette that references the product itself. The splotches of pastel color that cover the cosmetic packaging are reminiscent of water colors on an artists palette or, more aptly, of the brushstrokes that people make when deciding on the color of makeup to apply.
Naturaglace, a Japanese brand, exclusively uses organic ingredients for its products. As such, the brand sought out a packaging image that reflects that simplicity and natural philosophy. Rather than covering itself in complex color schemes, the brand's packaging reduces colors to the individual hues that makes them up, something in line with its ethos as a whole.
