In order to announce the opening of the new Pompeei museum at the Royal Ontatio Museum (also known as the ROM), the museum will be hosting dramatic digital projection on the sides of its Daniel Libeskind-designed building.
The "ROMpeii" video and light display will simulate the experience of living so close to the deadly mount Vesuvius that left an entire city covered in ashes. Just as the pressure inside of a volcano builds and builds until it is ready to erupt, the digital projections will get more and more ominous as time goes on.
This display will be set up every night for a week and promises an "explosive moment" the night before the Pompeii exhibit opens on June 13th. People who come to marvel at the digital volcano are encouraged to share content on social media using the #ROMpeii tag.
