The new Mr Bailey x adidas Originals OZLUCENT sneakers can be found in a sustainable box that's simply constructed with a sugar cane and cellulose interior and an outer shell made from mushroom-derived mycelium.
The box was created with the aid of research and development studio Black Ink Projects and England-based Magical Mushroom Company, which was responsible for growing and providing the biodegradable mushroom material used for the packaging. This packaging innovation goes to show what's possible when polystyrene is directly replaced. Naturally, this material is water resistant and it can be broken down into smaller pieces to decompose quickly. Alternatively, the material can also be combined with food waste and converted into a biogas alternative or electricity or fuel.
When the outer shell is ready to be decomposed, it does so but otherwise, it is made to last when stored in dry environments.
