Montreal firm Smith Vigeant Architects designed the Mont-Tremblant National Park Discovery Center in a such a way, as to make sure it blended with its natural surroundings. The center is intended as a cultural learning space for those who wish to know more about the park, located in the eastern short of Lake Monroe.
The architects opted for timber cladding and mirrored surfaces. They used a variety of wood species in order to achieve a rich, textured and harmonious blend, both inside and out. The mirrors were added around a single window, reflecting the forest environment in order to help the structure fit in.
The roof is angled in order to more easily connect with the wooden deck below, creating an interesting visual shape.
