The Monolith Skateboard is a new type of electric board featuring in-wheel electric motors. Electric skateboards aren't new, but there has never been one with in-wheel motors before. Inboard Sports designed the Monolith this way to keep things light and to ensure that riding feels as natural as possible.
The Monolith Skateboard takes a page from the hybrid car playbook with its regenerative breaking and multiple ride modes that allow you to set your top speed, acceleration rate and more. Riders operate the board using a small, wireless controller that only has two buttons. The deck itself looks like a regular longboard with all the electrical equipment hidden inside. The Monolith Skateboard has a top speed of 24 mph and a max range of 10 miles, which can be extended as the board sports a removable battery.
