Monochromatic Cemetery Captures

Photography by Gustavo Lopez Manas is Haunting

The cemetery is an eerily peaceful resting place for those who have passed on, and not to mention a sightly place too, as shown by the intricately carved sculptures dotting the landscape and captured by Gustavo Lopez Manas. The Barcelona-based photographer decided to pay the Kensal Rise Cemetery (one of the oldest in London) a visit to photograph the landmark.

Captured in black and white, the Kensalrise Cemetery series of grainy, monochromatic pictures by Gustavo Lopez Manas features objects typical of any burial ground, such as crypts, mausoleums, headstones and angelic statues with paint peeling off their facade. One of the pictures was taken when it drizzled, as it shows a statue with water droplet dripping down from its face, as if it mourns for those who had passed away.
