This unique modern birdhouse collection by Douglas Barnhard is inspired by contemporary home designs from 20th century.
These eye-catching birdhouses take inspiration from a mixture of mid-century architecture combined with California skate and surf culture. Each modern birdhouse has also been personally handcrafted by Barnhard himself in his Santa Cruz-based home decor design shop Sourgrass, and was constructed from high-end and re-purposed wooden materials locally bought and sourced from the surrounding area.
Besides being pleasant to look at, the work of Barnhard also stands out for its attention to detail. A noted stand out is the double birdhouse model, with its matching floor to ceiling windows and slanted metal roofs, that really makes these birdhouses feel more like miniature homes.
