British car maker Mini recently unveiled its Mini Electric Concept—a compact, all-electric version of its classic mini car. To bring the concept to life as a prototype, Mini turned to additive manufacturing as a solution.
The Mini Electric Cooper is styled after the classic Mini Cooper design, it sets itself apart with a set of 19-inch wheels, an asymmetrical detail on the radiator grille and an overall design that looks lighter and more aerodynamic. The use of 3D printing for prototyping a new vehicle speaks to the way that entirely new concepts may be created without restricting cost efficiency or the limitations of other machines and materials.
The Mini Electric Concept is set to be showcased at this year’s IAA Cars show in Frankfurt, Germany.
