Divooe Zein Architects Finishes the Mineless Heritage Restorations

Taiwanese design studio Divooe Zein Architects transforms a range of disused industrial buildings with the completion of the Mineless Heritage Restoration Project just outside of Taipei. It is now functioning as a calm retreat that is nestled in the tranquility of mountains and forest greenery. To make this possible, it underwent a range of logistical structures such as offices and a bathroom that previously supported Chungyi Coal Mine.

The studio explains the design process behind the project, stating "Mineless aims to integrate contemporary uses into the ancient and decaying functional spaces, creating rich and vibrant scenes. In the midst of this beautiful space, we aspire to create a sanctuary for human connection with oneself, tranquility, history, and nature within the remnants of the mountainous coal mine."
