Finnish Architect Seppo Mantyla created the Mikkeli Wave House, taking cues from airplanes and boats to become a re-imaged design of a classic log house.
Using a mixture of steel and wood to form a unique curvature design, the home is elevated in the front and finished in local spruce in the rear. Opening up to the surrounding landscape, the back of the home has large over-sized windows that create a glass facade. With exposed beams and logs, the house is reminiscent of traditional log cabin interiors with a modern white-wash finish. The main living area opens to a large deck that promotes outdoor living while looking out on the lake.
The Mikkeli Wave House has an expanding roof that naturally covers the terrace, which holds a luxurious hot tub and offers vast views of nature.
