Polish practice Hanczarstudio recently unveiled its design for the MIGRE migraine treatment center in Wroclaw. The interior of the facility offers a strategic departure from conventional medical environments as the firm looked for ways to harness design principles to create a soothing space for patients. The focus of the project was to mindfully stay away from visual stimuli that will exacerbate migraine symptoms. As such, Hanczarstudio evoked "associations with a beauty salon, spa or massage parlor, rather than a medical facility."
The MIGRE migraine treatment center is strategically outfitted with soft and diffused lighting to address photophobia. The interior design also incorporates acoustic ceiling panels, upholstered furniture, plants, and wood paneling to mitigate noise disruptions. Additionally, Hanczarstudio embraces a neutral, warm-toned color palette and rounded-edge furniture.
