The Horse Marionette and Rocking Springbuck are two of Michaella Janse van Vuuren's latest creations that merge art and science.
The Horse Marionette and the Rocking Springbuck were digitally designed with CAD software and 3D printed in Nylon with selective laser sintering. The magic of the Horse Marionette lies in its fully functional joints and movable wings. Van Vuuren’s horse and springbuck designs have taken on a life of their own; they take the viewer into a mystifying trip of random movements and artistic presence. The works can be seen at the Grande Provence Gallery in Franschhoek, Cape Town, South Africa, until May 25, 2011.
