Symbolic Rental Charity Campaigns

Arriba Mexico Collects Funds for Mexico Earthquake Victims

This Airbnb-inspired campaign was designed to help Mexico earthquake victims. Arriba Mexico is a website created by agency Anonimo that looks like Airbnb but is actually set up to collect donations for victims of the devastating earthquake that occurred on September 19th.

Arriba Mexico lists a number of different properties that were destroyed by the natural disaster along with pictures and descriptions. Donors can pay for a symbolic stay at destroyed destinations. Site visitors can choose how many nights they want for listings, but that money actually goes towards Mexico earthquake victims. 100% of the proceeds go to disaster relief charity Cadena, which aims to rebuild homes and provide temporary shelters in the interim.

This is an example of how technology can help victims of natural catastrophes.
