Copenhagen design studio NORD Architects created its first project in America with the Memory Care Center. It is a dementia care space located in Pennsylvania that is curated to assist elderly patients in a warm and welcoming way. It enhances knowledge on the disease and the campus will have 140 residential spaces along with community areas for residents and the public.
The studio notes, "The design of the new center is based on principles of flexibility, variation, and inclusion. It is designed to be a good home for residents, an inspiring workplace for caregivers, and a welcoming center for the surrounding community." There are multiple L-shaped buildings topped by a gabled roof arranged together in a cluster throughout the campus. The grounds also host a pergola, greenhouse, and other tranquil spaces.
