While a simple propped up plank would conceivably serve as an effective seating solution at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, the Meetube lends far more in terms of practicality, aesthetics and attitude in this case. Designed by Jordi Gaspar, Gabriel Rodríguez Pacheco and Manon Berlioz, the monumental bench becomes a meeting point, a place to rest and a sculpture that one can appreciate for its unique appearance.
The three creators were inspired by the properties of these corrugated tubes which includes their malleability, their strength and the bold colors in which they may come. With arc-shaped panels of wood arranged upright as a base, the Meetube designers draped, stacked, braided and bound the pipes together to make smooth and undulating surfaces. These would become ergonomic curves for the comfort of the sitters.
