Skin Patch Medication Deliveries

Avro Sets Out to Deliver Allergy Medication Through the Skin

Life science start-up Avro experiments with alternative medication delivery with an adhesive skin patch. Similar to the nicotine version, the innovation is expected to release allergy medications in a consistent manner to fight the effects of seasonal factors among children and the elderly.

The alternative medication delivery is convenient and fuss-free, however, it is still in its testing stages and not approved for human use. Aside from implications about allergies, Avro is also planning to expand the reach of its product to include other medical conditions that need consistent availability of meds.

Being able to deliver the needed drugs via a patch also alleviates the stress of having to swallow bitter pills or having to endure injections.
