The Me, Julie photo series is vibrantly outlandish, which, as it so happens, the subject may very well be too. Starring artist and illustrator Julie Verhoeven, the portraits effectively turn her into bizarre versions of her own fashion drawings. Not afraid of color, Verhoeven's own illustrated portraits of women are often highlighted with colorful brushstrokes. In the Me, Julie series, she herself is turned into a walking rainbow.
Shot by New York-based British photographer Annie Collinge, the Me, Julie portrait series is weird and wonderful. Or, as It's Nice That appropriately puts it, "It’s bonkers, barmy and brilliant." Aside from the blue died hair and painted face, Verhoeven poses with hulk hands, headless dolls and breast-shaped sponges. Without these props, something would be missing.
