Iconic Australian craft brewery Matilda Bay has announced the launch of Rejected Ales, a limited-edition collection consisting of 27 close-to-perfect beers that the company "rejected" on its way to developing its award-winning Original Ale.

The unconventional collection intends to highlight the meticulous craftsmanship of Matilda Bay's head brewmaster, Phil Saxton, who is known for rejecting beers that other breweries might see as high-quality. Instead of hiding all of its rejects, Matilda Bay has opted to celebrate them, which ultimately points to the quality of its Original Ale.

"To demonstrate our dedication to crafting the perfect beer, we’re letting Aussies try our not quite perfect enough Rejected Ales. Which, after our Original Ale, are hopefully the second-best beers you’ll taste," explained Sexton in a recent press statement.
