The Matchstick Light designed by Sam Thompson and Zack Shivers is one of the most interesting lights I have ever seen. The design of their Matchstick Light, although somewhat simple-looking, succeeds at coming across as something very contemporary and cool.
The lamp consists of six maple pieces that, as Hypebeast describes, are "held together with high quality stainless steel machine screws and wing nuts." Although the Matchstick Light appears to have a frail or fragile design, the electrical wiring of the light is quite complex and delivers an efficient, powerful amount of light. If you're in the market for a bedside table light or a new desk lamp, you'd better get moving: only 28 lights were made, and I can guarantee that similar to a lit match, they aren't going to last very long.
