Crumbling Flame Photography

The Matches Photo Collection is a Reminder That Nothing is Forever

Stanislav Aristov's Matches photo collection uses flames and smoke to manipulate nature's creations.

With over 50 different photos ranging from wine glasses, Christmas trees, dragonflies, musical instruments, weapons and flowers, Russian photographer Stanislav Aristov's Matches photo collection sets all things ablaze. Outlined by blackened withered matches, the monochromatic scheme in his photos only further emphasizes the subjects in his pictures as well as his fiery method of destruction. Though only parts of his objects are highlighted in flames, they will eventually be disintegrated into ashes and dust, a reminder that everything returns to nature regardless of its seemingly immortal existence. The Russian photographer utilizes the few colors very carefully, optimizing the impact and features, directing the viewer's eyes to whatever he wishes they lay eyes on.
