On Monday, July 18th, NPO CleanC is hosting a community-focused event called the 'Mandela Day Full Moon Beach Walk.' Mandela Day is an annual holiday that not only celebrates the life of Nelson Mandela, but also encourages people around the world to do at least 67 minutes of something positive for their communities as a way of commemorating the 67 years Mandela spent fighting for social justice. This event helps South Africans complete their 67 minutes of community service under the light of a full moon.
The Mandela Day Full Moon Beach Walk is a free event that takes place at Big Bay Beach in Cape Town. Under the light of a full moon, participants are asked to stroll along the sand for at least 67 minutes and help to clean up the beach. Participants are also encouraged to bring items to donate such as bars of soap and toothbrushes for the Do One Thing (DOT) Boxes. These DOT Boxes will then be distributed to children in need across Cape Town.
