When you think about it, it's really quite natural that an architectural project like the Make Kiosk should be influenced by paper craft. After all, the early stages of design involve much model-making with such materials. What you see here is the very clever use of triangular aluminum panels that have been connected by hinges and assembled to behave like a scaled-up version of a folded paper creation.
The origami-inspired project was undertaken by Make Architects with the help of Entech Environmental Technology. The portable structures can be completely closed up and reopened accordion-style to accommodate all sorts of facilities. With a protective inner skin of plywood, the Make Kiosks can be found in London's Canary Wharf, functioning as information booths, coffee stands and pop-up shops.
