Sir Jony Ive launches a new hardware project in the form of the Linn Sondek LP12-50 to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The turntable is a passion project and highlights Ive's admiration of classic design and intricate audiophile elements. The retro turntable is made with a slight tweak of details and updates for the better. Ive notes to Fast Company that "We saw a number of areas where there could be small improvements and gentle evolutions of the current design."
What came into fruition after a year of co-developing between Linn and LoveFrom was a newly redesigned look defined by smoothed edges and plastic hinges that have been added to replace the metal hinges. It also has a plastic rocker power button done in a circle shape now.
