The conceptual 'Living Skyscraper' is a new take on urban construction that imagines buildings as living organisms instead of maintaining a rigid, lifeless design to help infuse an organic touch into the cityscape. The skyscraper is achieved with genetically modified trees that have been grown and formed into the architectural design itself to give it a truly organic and living aesthetic. The structure is capable of completely supporting itself with its trunk and root system, while highlighting the biophilic connection between city inhabitants and the buildings around them.
The conceptual 'Living Skyscraper' is the design work of Andrii Lesiuk, Mykhaylo Kohut, Sofiia Shkoliar, Kateryna Ivashchuk, Nazarii Duda, Mariia Shkolnyk, Oksana-Daryna Kytsiuk and Andrii Honcharenko, and is the winner of the eVolo 2021 Skyscraper Competition.
