Modular Articulated Lamps

CNVS Designs' 'Liminal' Lighting Unit Adapts to Any Use

'Liminal,' a new lighting unit from Istanbul-based design studio CNVS Designs, makes the most out of a single line. The adaptable, articulated lighting unit can fold and bend into limitless shapes, making it versatile enough to light objects for a slate of potential usage scenarios.

The biggest appeal of Liminal is its linear design. The lamp consists of three lighting volumes: a long central column and two articulated extremities that are half that length. The extremities can fold inward when Liminal needs to be stored, reducing the total size to just over 30 centimeters long with a slim profile. At full, flat extension, however, Liminal stretches to double its folded length, lighting up large swaths of space. Further, the lamp can be folded to any configuration in between those two poles.
