Lighting installations seem to be becoming a popular way for lighting brands to showcase, explore, and push the limits of their designs. The Stone Archive installation by the Mexican brand davidpompa is a great example of this approach.
davidpompa's Stone Archive embraces the origin of the brand's new lighting collection which debuted during Milan Design Week this year. The materials employed throughout the collection are interesting—ancient stone (Mexican Toba volcánica stone, to be exact) and aluminum. The former material dates back to volcano eruptions from one million years ago. davidpompa intended the lighting installation accompanying the launch to take the Ambra Toba collection further. Tall archival shelves occupied a thematically appropriate room and gave visitors the chance to observe stones, folders, and prototypes that were gathered as research for the Ambra Toba capsule.
