The Layer Chair by Jorrit Taekema is Made Out of Coconut Fibers

The Layer Chair looks like a big slab of sponge that has been folded and molded very specifically to form a seat. Incredibly organic, some may even think that this was a miraculous find in a forest, that nothing was actually done to it in the least. In reality, the Layer Chair is a look to the future. It specifically touches on the future sustainability of furniture design and manufacturing.

Created by Dutch designer Jorrit Taekema, the Layer Chair is surprisingly not made out of sponge or other similar material. Instead, it is fashioned out of a composition consisting of coconut fibers and natural latex. With its sloping backrest and seat, it looks quite ergonomically comfortable.
