Heat-Sensitive Headdresses

Lauren Bowker's Leather Headdress Leaves Peacock Colored Undertones

London-based materials alchemist Lauren Bowker has created yet another heat-sensitive ink based collection of garments for the debut of her company The Unseen. Bowker's design firm has used their well-known heat sensitive ink and has combined it with a sculptural piece of leather garment for an event in the Dead House.

The giant piece of black leather is made by overlapped layers that enclose the wearer like a shell that can cover the wearer from head to hip. For the presentation, a model was fitted with the headdress and was set on fire by wicks that were attached to the body of the head piece. As the fire began to encapsulate the headdress, peacock like colors begin to emerge, leaving the leather stained with tones of green, blue and purple.
