A light fixture like the Lamp 3 takes the opportunity to marry practicality and sculpture. A single bare lightbulb could do the job of illuminating a room, but if you are after something more decorative and perhaps more mood-enhancing, there is great value in an object that artistically exhibits material through a unique exploration of form.
Three identical pieces of sheet metal are cut and folded to produce each third of the lampshade. They huddle together at the tops of three inward-slanting wooden legs and cover a triad of glowing LED boards between them. The consequent visual effect created by designer Luis Porem is one that openly distinguishes each set of parts. Light rays escape from the Lamp 3 through the trio of clefts between the different sections for an aesthetically engaging floor lamp.
