Building this lakeside home was quite a challenge for architect Paul Bernier. The house was built on a patch of land that had steep inclines to the north as well as to the south which forced Bernier to be creative. In designing the structure, Bernier opted to incorporate the land's natural shape resulting in a unique zigzag shaped house.
The inventive design takes inspiration from its lakeside location with a layout that flows and bends like a river. Despite its odd shape, the house remains minimalist in its aesthetic. Clad in vertical cedar slabs, the exterior gives the home a soft appearance.
The lakeside home's interior treats large windows as picture frames, highlighting its idyllic setting. Through the innovative layout, homeowners are able to see views of the forest to the south, and views of the lake to the east.
