As part of the revitalization of the Krymskaya Embankment, Russian architecture and design studio Wowhaus has created the Krymskaya Embankment project to transform a previously four-lane highway beside the Moskva River in Moscow, Russia into an all-season park. The project includes adding fountains, cafes, artist studios, trees and lining the park with pedestrian pathways and bicycle lanes that connect directly to the Muzeon Fallen Monument Park and the Central House of Artists gallery.
Inspired by the central design theme of waves, the project provides four different spaces, each catered to different activities. Uniting all four spaces is the wave theme that is inlaid into the wooden benches, buildings, pathways and cobbled paving. "In summer the wave-shaped multi-level layout can be used for walking, cycling or roller skating, while in winter it is a perfect setup for sledging, skating or skiing," says the architects on the project site.
