Universal is hopping on the AR video game train with its Pokémon Go-style mobile game, Jurassic World Alive. The game is set to release on iOS and Android and will give players the ability to build a collection of dinosaurs, create hybrid creatures using DNA and pit their dinosaurs against other players' creations. Much like Pokémon Go, Jurassic World Alive will be a map-based collection game, but players will not necessarily need to leave the house to play. Jurassic World Alive will feature a virtual drone feature that can be dispatched to collect "dino-DNA."
Jurassic World Alive is currently being developed by Montreal-based developer Ludia. Ludia has worked with the Jurassic Park franchise before, with its development of Jurassic Park Builder in 2012 and Jurassic World: The Game in 2015. Jurassic World Alive will contain over 100 dinosaurs at launch and will be updated regularly with new creatures.
