According to the latest National Household Survey conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Information (INEI) in Perú, rural electricity is absent in 42% of areas in the Peruvian jungle, compared to rural areas of the coast and mountains, which are supplied with ample electricity.
After a long process of research and prototype development with teachers and students of UTEC, a solution was developed called the 'Plantalámpara,' an application model that integrates self-sustaining clean energy, properly using the natural wealth of the area.
UTEC released this new and economical form of lighting for poor regions in the amazon jungle. In this occasion, UTEC takes advantage of nature and proposed a renewable, easy-to-replicate source of light, making plants boxes with technological panels that turns photosynthesis in to light, so they can study, cook or even knit at night.
