The East Japan Railway Company (JR East) is known for trying to encourage romance on its trains and it came up with another stunt for Valentine's Day this year.
On its Keiyo Line, JR East installed just two heart-shaped hand straps, one pink and one blue, which would hopefully inspire two passengers to strike up a conversation with one another.
Before Valentine's Day this year, JR East posted an announcement on Facebook, letting people know that they should keep their eyes peeled for these romantic hand straps. Although a few people responded that holding onto these straps would just make them feel uncomfortable, most people were receptive to the idea, especially since the novel straps will only be around for a short period of time.
