A brilliant branding challenge was bestowed upon one student, who managed to make something as potentially dull as Jobeur Nail packaging into something intelligent and interesting. Creating a clever way to merchandize for such a mundane product is a task that's seldom undertaken and rarely a success. The proof is visible on the humdrum hardware store shelf.
But instead of using stimulating graphic design to attract attention to the small boxes of metal tacks, spikes and screws, student Pier-Philippe Rioux used the goods themselves to conceive a captivating image. Spelling out the sizing of each fastener with the heads of several bits, pixelated numbers emerge from the clean cardboard cartons of Jobeur Nail packaging that communicate the product's qualities without any need for a logo or printed text.
